this is my little paper tribute to a happy game by Valve about magic doors. you can make this little paper thing if you print out the paper patten.......

<----this one here (if you click on it it will get bigger) It is a little tricky to make but only because it is little. I found the best way to make it was to print it out on a sheet of A4 card or thick paper and then shrink my self down to the same size and use a small army of worker puppies to assemble it. if you can't find worker puppies or shrink your self down to size then stare at the print out before you go to bed and you can dream that you made it and wake up feeling happy and refreshed.

    Well Done!

The only possible improvement I can imagine is to change the graphic on the cube into a pink heart as on the Companion Cube.

    /I'm SO making this.

In the game you cannot make a portal in the darker wall tiles...

  15. Anonymous8:24 am

Wow! I'm going to build that right away!

Remember when the platform was sliding into the fire pit, and I said 'Goodbye', and you were like, 'No Way', and then I was all, 'We pretended we were going to murder you'. That was great.

Wow, absolutely beautiful. Though, I was wondering(someone else mentioned it as well) if you could possibly make a version with the campanion cube instead of the regular cube? That would be perfect.

  21. Hello to everyone, to all of you that want a vector version of this awesome work,
If you have illustrator CS2 or CS3 you can make it with livetrace, it works very well, and then you can scale or change the colors or just play with it.

    GREAT WORK, I LOVE IT

  26. That is so cool. My son and I just discovered this game and are having great fun playing it through. I need to find some card stock so I can have this on my desk at work. Thanks so much for your efforts and creativity.

  27. Ooh,

If it's not too much trouble, I would also like to throw my vote in to put the heart on the cube. I miss my 'companion cube'

I'd even like a larger one.

This is the best thing i've ever seen and then got around to make, going to print this out several times bigger, build it and relish in my own "little" portal playground on my desk, and yes i also wouldnt mind a companion cube version, and maybe even a little portal camera to stick to the wall.

This was a triumph! (I'm sorry...)

Built it, and it goes perfectly on my desk with my paper companion cube. :D

    Great!

Incredible! I would love it even more if it had the weighted companion cube. You should design more papercraft.

I made it, and while the wall ended up kinda wavy(due to too much glue) and the top of the heads didn't glue down properly(my fault), it's hard to overstate my satisfaction.

  44. Your way of describing things are so coated with sugar that i often find it unintentionally hilarious. Like "if u click on it it will get bigger" and stare at it etc. Saw it on PCGamer tubby! You should get royalties from them for quoting your site!

  45. Hi!
I just wanted to let you know that I tried to make this.
Now, I'm sorry that it's not perfect because I don't have any glue but I tried my best with sellotape instead.
    Enjoy!

  46. I printed this on A4 size paper so the scale is a bit hard to work with. But after some hard work I managed to get it assembled. here are some pictures:

This is my own attempt at the same design which I fell in love with. I'm a huge Portal fan but this is my first attempt at papercraft ever. Using a penknife and some prittstick I could only make this with A4 paper like the guy above. Here's the result:

    http://img224.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=89042_compare_122_5lo.jpg

There's no doubt which is best. But this took me about 3 hours and was very very fiddley. But mostly GREAT fun and I'm happy with the result ^_^ Thanks!

If you can't print it, try the following:

Click on the picture, to get the large version.. Right-click on it and do a clipboard copy, then go to Start->Run and run MSPAINT.EXE.

Next, paste the image into MS Paint, then go to File->Page Setup and in the "Scaling" box, set the parameters to "Fit to 1 x 1 pages" and then print the image. ^_^
